Incubators

Incubators are organizations designed to assist startups in their early stages by providing crucial resources and services that aid in the development of scalable business models. These services may include physical office space, capital, mentoring, business support, legal services, and networking connections. An incubator can also be a Technology Business Incubator (TBI) recognized by either the Central or State Government.

Eligible Incubator Entities:

Incubators must be established under one of the following registered entity types:

  • Society (under The Societies Registration Act).
  • Section 8 Company (under The Companies Act, 2013).
  • Private Limited Company (under The Companies Act, 2013).
  • Public Company (under The Companies Act, 2013).
  • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) (under The Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008).

Eligibility Criteria for Financial Assistance:

  • Aspiring or existing incubators based in educational institutes or corporate/PSU are eligible for a grant of up to 75% of project cost, with a maximum of INR 5 crore for setting up/scaling incubator facilities.
  • The project cost should include both capital and operational costs.
  • The grant is to be spread over 3 years, subject to submission of proper utilization certificates.
  • Incubators must dedicate at least 5,000 sq. feet of carpet area for their operations.

Benefits for Incubators

  • Financial Assistance:
    Government of Assam provides up to 75% of the project cost (maximum INR 5 crore) for setting up incubation centers at IT, engineering colleges, universities, and other educational institutions.
  • Infrastructure Support:
    Covers costs for the construction of buildings, equipment, and connectivity.
